    Catch the end of Walk Scilly at Karma St. Martin’s. This popular event offers expertly-guided walks across each of the 5 inhabited islands, as well as some of the less-explored uninhabited islands. It is a wonderful way to explore some of the hidden gems available here, from wildlife safaris to Mediterranean meanders, whilst discovering and learning about the history and nature of the magical Isles of Scilly.

    World Gig Championships

    The biggest event in Scilly of the year! The 31st Anniversary World Pilot Gig Championships will be held from May 3-5th 2020.
    The World Pilot Gig Championships honours the long tradition of the Isles’ pilots – who guided ships through the treacherous waters off the Isles of Scilly and Cornish coast. Competition to win the job was fierce; the Pilot

    Gigs, which consisted of six rowers and a coxswain, would race out to the ships and the first pilot to reach the ship would win the contract.
    Karma St. Martin’s welcomes you to catch this amazing nautical event, now in its 31st year. Join us for all the colour and fanfare of the World Pilot Gig Championships.

    The Isles of Scilly are part of the gulf stream with our own microclimate, making us a unique part of Britain. Home to an abundance of tropical plants and early blooming of flowers such as the famous scented Narcissi, as well as the gorgeous yellow flowering gorse and their sweet coconut scent, it not only looks vibrant across the islands, but also smells enchanting!

    Migrating sea bird will have also started to return to the islands, the most popular being the Puffins. There are arranged trips to see these tiny birds in their natural habitat where you will have the opportunity to spot some other favourites such as Petrels and Shearwaters and perhaps even some seals and dolphins whilst out on the water! In the evening of 8th April, we’ll be cutting the ribbon, so please come and join us for a glass of celebratory bubbles as we head into our sixth successful season in Scilly!
