Rottnest Island is just a brief ferry ride from state capital Perth, but it feels like a world away. And it has a fascinating history that far predates that of the provincial capital. Aboriginal artefacts there are hard to accurately date, but could reach back as far as an astonishing 30,000 years.<\/p>\n

Today, Rottnest Island is one of the premier holiday destinations in the region, with as many as 63 bays and beaches waiting for you to discover, each beautiful in their own way and each lapped by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.<\/p>\n
