The Balinese New Year celebration is a day dedicated to complete silence.
It is a 6-day celebration, on the 3rd day Bali comes to a standstill with no flights coming into Denpasar airport, no cars or bikes on the road, no people.
Nyepi, meaning “to keep silent” falls on the day after the dark moon of the spring equinox. No light or candle will be lit in any Balinese home, it's indeed a special experience, not only for the Balinese but also for all the visitors and Karma tourists that want to immerse themselves in the silence and gentleness of Bali during this Hindu New Year Celebration.
